Course Information
Description Principles of measurement. Includes operation of devices used to measure process variables and basic control functions.
Required Textbooks Textbook Purchasing Statement: A student attending Lamar State College Port Arthur is not under any obligation to purchase a textbook from the college-affiliated bookstore. The same textbook may also be available from an independent retailer, including an online retailer.

Learning Outcomes Apply selected principles of process measurement; describe the control loop as applied to selected process variables; and demonstrate safety procedures.
Program Student Learning Outcomes •Identify control panel indicators, calibration tools, electrical parts, and how they work.
•Utilize a multimeter and oscilloscope to differentiate between two AC signals with respect to voltage, current, and power.
•Apply electronic circuit fabrication techniques to industry standards.
•Explain the static and dynamic aspects of processes.
•Analyze level and gas measurements to determine proper operating parameters of specific process and electrical equipment.
•Demonstrates standard safety procedures as required in industry.

Determination of
Final Grade		 There will be chapter exams, a comprehensive final exam, a combined lab quiz and homework grade. Home work must be completed when due. All late homework not turned in on time will be counted as a zero. It is your responsibility to keep up with your assignments and homework. The course grade will be based on the following percentages: Attendance/Participation 10%, Homework 25%, Chapter Tests 30%, and Final 35%.
Course Policies
Instructor Policies CELL PHONE POLICY - Please put cell phones out of sight and on mute during all class times. Cell Phone (texting, gaming, using, calling, taking photos or recording of any kind is prohibited in all classes). Using Cell Phones during class times is distracting to other paying students. If there are repeated violations you will be dismissed from class for that day and counted as absent.
Attendance Policy As class attendance is crucial to making a passing grade, after 5, 7, & 9 class periods have been missed a letter grade will be dropped after each and after 11 missed class days a Failure will be recorded for the overall grade. If you are late to class, you will be counted tardy unless you have a recognized excuse. Sleeping in class will be discussed after class with me. Class absences can also have recognized excuses, with each being handled on a one on one basis with the instructor.

COVID 19 Information The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition directly to their local health department. Students should also contact their course faculty to report their quarantine status. In addition, this policy requires all students to wear face coverings when directly exposed to COVID 19 in compliance with the criteria included in the policy. Facility Policies No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
